The Swedish National Quality Register for internet-based psychological treatment, SibeR
Internet-delivered psychological treatments can bridge a shortage in and unequal access to psychological treatments that are highly prioritized in the national guidelines. Digital care is increasing considerably and needs to be supported by a regulated introduction and evaluation.
SIBER
SibeR is a national quality register for internet-based psychological treatments, gathering data from treatments where the patient is assigned a digitally mediated program and is guided by healthcare personnel. Communication between the patient and the therapist can take place solely via the treatment platform or through mixed treatments where care contacts also take place in real time via video, telephone or physical visits. SibeR was launched in 2015, at the same time as a national platform for digital support och treatments became available for all 21 regions in Sweden.
Treatments include a wide range of defined interventions for mental illness as well as behavioral medical conditions in psychiatry, primary care and somatic care for patients of all ages. The indications are expanding in line with implementation in regular care.
AIM
The aim is to provide a basis for systematic evaluation, development of and research on internet-delivered healthcare treatments.
GOALS
-
Increase equal access and the proportion of patients who receive effective psychological treatments in a reasonable time.
-
With the register, create a basis for quality-driven development, improvement teams and learning within and between regions.
-
The learning and the registry's transparency around treatment programs, processes and effects should contribute to the development of better programs and care processes.
-
Through better diagnostics and selection, fewer patients should drop out, i.e. the completion rates should increase.
-
The overall goal is to contribute to efficient care for mental health in primary care and to method development in psychiatry.
OUTCOME
-
The quality measures apply to diagnostic assessment, availability, completion rate and treatment effect.
-
Treatment effects are monitored with patient-reported disease-specific outcome measures for symptoms and general measures for health-related function and quality of life.
-
In-depth analyzes of co-morbidity and alcohol consumption give an idea of case-mix.
-
SibeR provides feedback via online real time statistics and support implementation and informatics for digital care. Online statistics can be viewed at this website.
